Valentine’s Day History

So exactly where did this “love festival’ begin? Believe it or not, this day of love may have all started with an execution. The most popular belief is that in Rome, AD 496, a clergyman by the name of Valentine was secretly and illegally performing marriage rites. When Roman Emperor Claudius discovered what he was doing, Valentine was executed.
